ATTENTION Truck & Fleet Owners

If you have trucks that are unseated, we can help you make money and keep your idle truck(s) moving!

We are a fleet owner/BCO (Blue Ribbon Logistical Solutions, LLC) at Landstar and have the privilege of attracting more drivers than I have trucks available.  Our highly successful podcast and social media presence along with our outreach/recruiting/mentoring program provides us with a number of candidates who are seeking to learn the owner/operator business here at Landstar.  We can provide quality drivers, HR services, dispatch, supervision, GPS tracking, accounting and management of your idle asset(s) for you.

You must have a reliable tractor that is DOT compliant and able to pass a thorough inspection by a mechanic of our choosing.

Other requirements include:

  • Conventional cab with full height condo

  • ELD compliant

  • Emissions compliant (no deleted EGR, DPF, etc.)

  • AC/DC Power Inverter

  • OEM-style Refrigerator

The age of your truck is not critical as long as it is reliable, reasonable in appearance, and in good mechanical condition.

You are responsible for all maintenance, repairs (including breakdowns, towing, etc.) and equipment compliance, including annual IRS Form 2290.  The truck will be inspected every 120 days, as per Landstar policy, and any deficiencies found during the inspection must be corrected at the time of the inspection, at the expense of the truck owner.  We will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, load selection, dispatching, driver acquisition, supervision/training, etc.  This opportunity is best suited for an owner whose truck(s) is/are paid-off, in order for this program to provide a reasonable weekly income to you.

Our driver will be paid 25% of gross linehaul and accessorals except Fuel Surcharge as a W-2 based employee of our corporation.  We utilize the services of a professional payroll provider and the costs of this service is a part of the operational expenses of the truck.  Blue Ribbon will receive 5% of TOTAL gross revenue weekly, for the dispatch/management, then we would split the Net profit (65% Owner/35% BRLS) after all expenses and deductions, settled weekly via direct deposit to the truck owner.

We have an excellent track record of revenue per mile, cost control, and sensible dispatch/load strategies, with minimal deadhead.  We teach and monitor good fuel-purchasing strategies as well as overall cost/maintenance controls.  Our 120-day inspections are done by a few, very select sites that provide thorough compliance monitoring as well as overall condition reporting, including driver area cleanliness.  You can dictate whether your truck is non-smoking or non-pet friendly and we will honor your wishes. We will provide a GPS tracking device with forward-facing, cloud-based dashcam to assist us in monitoring the movement and location of the truck/driver.  A PrePass/BestPass transponder will also be provided and the toll surety account funded as part the Blue Ribbon fleet account.

The financial structure will be stipulated in a lease contract between you (the owner of the truck) and Blue Ribbon Logistical Solutions, LLC (the management of the truck) for a period of 18 months, renewable in 12 month terms thereafter.  The terms of the contract are subject to the mutual agreement between the parties but would substantially establish a working partnership between the two, outlining the specific responsibilities of each party.  In order to efficiently manage the truck & driver, the equipment would be placed under the FEIN of Blue Ribbon Logistics with Landstar.  The title of the truck would remain in your name but the tractor would become a part of the Blue Ribbon fleet.  A “Release of Revenue” would be filed with Landstar to allow the settlements to flow through the Blue Ribbon settlement.  A ComData card for fueling would be setup through Landstar Card Services, which offers industry-leading fuel discounts.  Blue Ribbon will administer the reconciliation of this card and its activity.   A copy of the Landstar settlement along with your portion of the operating profit would be provided weekly on the Blue Ribbon regular weekly payroll day, currently each Friday, via direct deposit to your bank account by a nationally known payroll service.

A plan would be established for the emergency or unforeseen, urgent nature of repairs or breakdowns, particularly in after-hours situations.  A maintenance account, escrow account or credit card-on-file are the customary ways to manage those occurrences.   It is expected that you will be appropriately responsive to our notifications of these events.  Minor repairs, PM’s and small incidentals will be covered by Blue Ribbon and recovered weekly through the settlement. If the truck is non-operational due to mechanical breakdown or other unexpected cause, there are no fees from BRLS (except the weekly deductions from Landstar) until the truck is operational again

In the interest of protecting the efforts and cost of recruiting, training and retaining the quality applicants that we are so fortunate to receive, we must insist on a “non-compete” agreement between you and the driver that we supply to your truck.  We go to great expense and effort to attract, interview, vet and train our drivers.  Therefore, we need a period of time where the commerce that is generated from this process can be used to recover the costs and also enjoy a reasonable profit for our efforts.  You may not enter into any discussion about hiring or otherwise make any offer of employment or truck ownership until after the 18th month of the driver’s assignment to your truck. Any violation of this will result in an aggressive enforcement of the non-compete contract including legal costs and damages.  All communication between the driver and you must come through the Blue Ribbon dispatcher in order to minimize confusion and maintain a clear chain of command. You will be extended the opportunity to be in the communication with the Blue Ribbon Team and the driver via Signal Messenger.

Many of our drivers go on to become BCO’s after their 18 month training period with us.  This may be a good opportunity for you to possibly sell your truck to one of our graduates if you so choose, including financing the sale for a continued income stream to you.

You probably realize that the hardest thing about owning multiple trucks is finding and retaining good drivers.  We have found the way to solve that problem. Let us take that obstacle away so you can enjoy the ownership and profit without the hassle of managing employee drivers, while having the confidence that your truck is being operated safely, efficiently and in compliance including employment regulations and laws.
